Trying to find a perfect day to photograph Brandon and Kial this winter hasn’t been the easiest. Snowstorms, cold and work schedules have all come into play. We finally picked a nice sunny day to meet up.
Our first stop was the Detroit Public Library. What a fantastic old structure that most people probably don’t even know about. After wandering the halls of the library, we headed out to Belle Isle for some outdoor fun.
Brandon and Kial are having their wedding reception at the Casino on the island, so we wanted to get some shots around the outside of the building. Although the sun was shining beautifully, the temps were down right frigid. I think we lasted about 1/2 hour outside before calling it a day.
I look forward to a beautiful fall setting on the island.
We had a great time with Pam and Kevin, yesterday, at their late autumn wedding. Although we still have a month of fall left, it was a cold, yet sunny day.
Fun was had with the bridesmaids early in the day at Embassy Suites in Southfield, then it was off to Franklin Community Church. A historic church in such a quaint village in metro Detroit was beautiful for a fall wedding.
We then made some post wedding stops in the Franklin community center area around the church and then moved down the road to Franklin Cider Mill.
Birmingham Athletic Club was the reception venue. A wonderful meal and an evening of dancing helped the couple celebrate their day.
Best Wishes Pam and Kevin!
Ryan and Stephanie were another of my couples who were in town for Thanksgiving. We had a warmer day, for the beginning of winter, to wander around Rochester downtown. The sun was brilliant and created some great light. Ryan and Stephanie’s big day isn’t until October, but stay tuned for some more great images.
James and Kelly live in Arizona and were in Michigan for Thanksgiving and wedding planning. Of course they picked one of the coldest weeks so far this winter to visit and we needed to get their e-session in. We chose Rochester Municipal park for their venue. Even the dogs had fun on a beautiful, cold Michigan late afternoon. Can’t wait for a warm day in June for their big day.
Katie and Rob picked the Detroit Institute of Arts for their engagement session. They had spent a lot of time at the DIA over the years and it had a true meaning to them. Katie lives in Dallas and Rob is going to medical school at Wayne State. Their wedding is New Years Eve in Dallas this year, but they wanted their e-session done here in the D (the real D…Detroit). Katie wasn’t really keen on doing too many pictures outside, since the temperature was a balmy 30 something degrees. A nice March day for us Michiganians. We had a lot of fun wandering the halls of the DIA and I think we ended up with some nice shots.
Michigan from November – March seems to always be a toss-up when it comes to weather. Jaime and Dan blew in from the “windy city” (photographer’s attempt at humor) for their wedding at Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth. It ended up being a beautiful day…ok it was cold…but the sun came out for us to take some pictures outside. Jaime and Dan are a really fun couple who planned a truly elegant wedding. It was great we never had to leave the Inn’s facilities, but still ended up with some truly special pictures. Enjoy Puerto Vallarta where it’s definitely warmer than Detroit or Chicago. Best Wishes!
