Dax and Alexa – Detroit Institute of Arts Wedding

Dax and Alexa are about as “Detroit” as a couple from Chicago can get. I love Chicago, but I think it’s so cool this couple chose Detroit for their wedding, because they enjoy being in the D.
From the getting ready photos at the Crowne Plaza, to the guys hitting some highlights of the city before the wedding, to the beautiful ceremony at the DIA. Wow, what a whirlwind day and the best part was that the rain cleared out so we could capture it all.
Best wishes to a beautiful couple and their lifetime together!

Julie and Jason – Dearborn and Detroit Wedding for the World Travellers

Julie and Jason met in Stuttgart, Germany a few years ago.  Jason is in the US Air Force and Julie was there working for the Department of Defense.  They made Dearborn and Detroit (Julie’s hometown) their home for the weekend to celebrate their wedding.  After a beautiful wedding at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn, we were off to do some fun photos around UM Dearborn’s campus, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Riverwalk.  What a perfect day weather wise for the happy couple.  They then celebrated with friends and family into the evening at 707 East in the Greektown area.  Congratulations to the happy couple.

Dann and Donna – Detroit and Dearborn Inn Wedding

Dann and Donna have been planning their day for a lot of months and it turned out just as they hoped. Perfect weather, a handsome couple and great venues. Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church provided their ceremony backdrop. The church is definitely one of my favorites to shoot in because of all of the beauty and natural light. After we headed to the Detroit Riverwalk area and some fun on the carosuel and Milliken State Park. We then headed to the Detroit Institute of Arts for some fun shots on the lawn. It was then off to Dearborn Inn for a few shots before the reception. What a perfect day was had by all in attendance. Congratulations to the newlyweds.

Ruchi and Praveen – Detroit Engagement Session

Ruchi and Praveen and getting married later this year in Redmonds, WA, but wanted to get their engagement photos in Detroit.  Praveen grew up in the Detroit area and is in a residency program at the DMC.  Ruchi will be moving here after her graduation from pharmacy school.  Since winter in Michigan isn’t always perfect, we chose the Detroit Public Library for some indoor shots and then around the library and Detroit Institute of Arts for some outdoor shots.  We ended up with a perfect day that wasn’t terribly cold and light fluffy snow falling for our outdoor images.  Our outdoor images, with the snow, ended up with a very romantic feel.  Best wishes Ruchi and Praveen.

Stephen and Rebecca – Detroit Institute of Arts Engagement Session

Stephen and Rebecca’s wedding is coming up in July.  Since it’s January in Michigan, we chose the friendly and warm confines of the Detroit Institute of Arts for their engagement session.  Rebecca had never visited the DIA before, so it was kind of a whirlwind tour / engagement session.  With great winter window light we were able to get some beautiful shots.  We even ventured outside for a few at the end of the session.  Looking forward to a warm summer day in July.  Enjoy.

Mia and Will – Detroit Engagement Session

Mia and Will were looking for an engagement session that showed their class and style, almost fashion magazine-like.  We started our session at the Detroit Institute of Arts shooting both indoors and outdoors.  I love the clean lines and backgrounds at the DIA.  We then headed to the old Michigan Central Station in Detroit to wrap the session up.  Stay tuned for Mia and Will’s wedding in 2013.

Julie and Greg – DIA and Detroit Public Library e-session

Fall is such a beautiful time in Michigan, it seems that it is often a rainy time.  Julie, Greg and I spent our e-session dodging raindrops, but I think we still ended up with some fun and beautiful images.  We ended up moving inside the Detroit Institute of Arts as the rain became a little more persistent.  Enjoy!

Pat and Kristy – A Wedding to Remember

I met Pat and Kristy last fall and seemed to make an immediate connection. We did a super fun engagement shoot back in the winter months at their alma mater, University of Michigan. Based on what they had told me, I knew this was going to be a fun wedding…and it did not disappoint. Besides being a beautiful day and the bride looking stunning, Pat’s father who has been ill, was able to be at the wedding and reception to help celebrate the day with them. The one thing that has always impressed me with Pat and Kristy, is their constant smiles and laughter. You can feel how much they enjoy being together and the happiness that comes out of that time.

The wedding was held at the beautiful, Most Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Detroit with the reception being at Laurel Manor in Livonia. We did a quick tour of downtown Detroit for some fun photos of the bridal party and the new Mr. and Mrs. Sharrow. Best wishes for a wonderful life.

Tabatha and Sam – Rainy Day in Detroit Engagement Session

Tabatha and Sam are getting married on New Years Eve in St. Louis, but are taking a little bit of their Detroit roots with them thru photographs. The Park Shelton Condos and Detroit Institute of Arts provided our background. Sam and Tabatha had fun with the hour or so we spent together. Sam is quite the comedian and loves making Tabatha laugh (ok…I found out the key to his comedy, but it’s top secret). Best wishes Tabatha and Sam.

Katie and Rob – DIA Engagement Session

Katie and Rob picked the Detroit Institute of Arts for their engagement session. They had spent a lot of time at the DIA over the years and it had a true meaning to them. Katie lives in Dallas and Rob is going to medical school at Wayne State. Their wedding is New Years Eve in Dallas this year, but they wanted their e-session done here in the D (the real D…Detroit). Katie wasn’t really keen on doing too many pictures outside, since the temperature was a balmy 30 something degrees. A nice March day for us Michiganians. We had a lot of fun wandering the halls of the DIA and I think we ended up with some nice shots.
