Alexa and Dax are Chicago residents, but truly have a passion for Detroit. Their wedding will be in Detroit in 2016 and they came to “the D” for their e-session photos. We stopped at a few of their favorite spots in Detroit to do some photos. They are big fans of the Movement festival, so we had to stop by Hart Plaza for a few shots.
Stay tuned for more beautiful shots from their wedding day in 2016.
We last saw Jenny and Robert a couple months ago for their engagement session in Birmingham. The big day finally arrived and what a beautiful wedding they had.
The bride and groom both prepared for their day with their wedding party at the Detroit Athletic Club. It was then just down the street to Historic Trinity Lutheran Church for the beautiful ceremony. The church is another of Detroit’s hidden gems that everyone should visit at some point.
After the formalities were finished, it was off to the Detroit Riverwalk and Milliken State Park for some fun photos with the wedding party. A few more fun images were taken back at the beautiful Detroit Athletic Club prior to the celebration.
Great speeches and a great party helped the couple start their new lives together. The main dining room at the Detroit Athletic Club looked amazing for the party.
Best wishes to Robert and Jenny!
Trying to find a perfect day to photograph Brandon and Kial this winter hasn’t been the easiest. Snowstorms, cold and work schedules have all come into play. We finally picked a nice sunny day to meet up.
Our first stop was the Detroit Public Library. What a fantastic old structure that most people probably don’t even know about. After wandering the halls of the library, we headed out to Belle Isle for some outdoor fun.
Brandon and Kial are having their wedding reception at the Casino on the island, so we wanted to get some shots around the outside of the building. Although the sun was shining beautifully, the temps were down right frigid. I think we lasted about 1/2 hour outside before calling it a day.
I look forward to a beautiful fall setting on the island.
Scott and Heather chose Masonic Temple in Detroit for their wedding day. It’s such a fabulous building that still can host an elegant wedding. Both the bride and groom did their prep and getting ready at the historic structure. We then took each group around the building to get some unique backgrounds. It was then a 4:30 ceremony in the chapel at the Masonic. A beautiful reception in the ballroom then followed. A full dance floor capped off the evening. Best wishes to the happy couple.
Julie and Ryan live in Detroit and wanted a wedding that was based around what they love about the “D”. Julie got ready at the Marriott Ren Cen and had a room with a beautiful view of the river. What a relaxed and fun group of girls that were Julie’s bridesmaids.
We then travelled to the couple’s home in Corktown for the first look at some fun photos with Ryan and Julie. Everyone then headed to Dequindre Cut for a little more urban and rustic look with the entire wedding party.
Finally, The Rattlesnake Club became our final destination with some great images in the old Stroh’s complex around the Rattlesnake. Then at 5:00, Julie and Ryan became husband and wife and the party started.
We truly enjoyed our day with the happy couple. Best wishes and enjoy!
Julie and Jason met in Stuttgart, Germany a few years ago. Jason is in the US Air Force and Julie was there working for the Department of Defense. They made Dearborn and Detroit (Julie’s hometown) their home for the weekend to celebrate their wedding. After a beautiful wedding at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn, we were off to do some fun photos around UM Dearborn’s campus, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Riverwalk. What a perfect day weather wise for the happy couple. They then celebrated with friends and family into the evening at 707 East in the Greektown area. Congratulations to the happy couple.
