Trying to find a perfect day to photograph Brandon and Kial this winter hasn’t been the easiest. Snowstorms, cold and work schedules have all come into play. We finally picked a nice sunny day to meet up.
Our first stop was the Detroit Public Library. What a fantastic old structure that most people probably don’t even know about. After wandering the halls of the library, we headed out to Belle Isle for some outdoor fun.
Brandon and Kial are having their wedding reception at the Casino on the island, so we wanted to get some shots around the outside of the building. Although the sun was shining beautifully, the temps were down right frigid. I think we lasted about 1/2 hour outside before calling it a day.
I look forward to a beautiful fall setting on the island.
Jeff and Ashley picked a perfect day for their engagement session in the town where they met and now live, Royal Oak. Along with Foster, their German Shorthair, we had a great time exploring a park in Royal Oak and doing some shots under my favorite viaduct. Foster got some free running time in between his modeling debut also. We then headed downtown for a few shots. Watch the blog for the couple’s wedding day in September.
Sara and DJ are getting married in July and wanted to get some images done of their family before the wedding. This was somewhat more like a lifestyle session, which was a lot of fun. We started the day around their home with Henry providing our entertainment and starring in some photos. Then Griffin woke up and moved in the the co-starring role with Mom and Dad. A walk to some nearby green space and biking trail provided us with some other opportunities for some fun family portraits and some romantic images for Sara and DJ.
I’m looking forward to their upcoming wedding day on Belle Isle and the Madison rooftop.
Nicole and Jack live in Royal Oak and wanted to do some fun shots around the downtown area. Royal Oak has so many unique old, new and updated buildings it makes it easy to find some great backgrounds. Ms. Molly joined us for some fun photos in the park where we were able to capture a few of falls last bit of color. We have about a year to wait to see Nicole and Jack’s big day, but it will be one of the highlights of 2013.
Mike and Bridget’s one request was to get some images that looked like fall. I think we succeeded. Along with their dog Luna, we started in Patterson Park and were able to grab some great shots with a few trees in their full splendor. We then headed over to Grosse Pointe Academy, where Mike had spent his younger years and Mike and Bridget’s wedding will take place. Readers will have to stay tuned until Sept. 2013 for the wedding images.
Andrea and Ryan are busy medical residents and so time is valuable. You will get to see them twice in a week, once for their engagement session and again for their wedding that is Saturday. Last night we wandered the shores of Quarton Lake, in Birmingham, and got some fun early fall photos. Andrea and Ryan brought their dog with them who had more fun chasing squirrels, but posed for some photos before grandpa took him home. The rest of the evening was spent along the shore and capturing some great “golden hour” photos. Stay tuned for wedding photos early next week.
We had a fun time getting to know Jessica and Scott…oh and I can’t forget Izzy, in Royal Oak. Izzy was excited about her internet debut and came out to play for the first half of our session. Then we headed to downtown Royal Oak for some fun photos on a beautiful summer evening. Royal Oak never seems to disappoint when it comes to different and unique backgrounds. Jessica and Scott’s mid-October wedding at Iroquois Club should be a lot of fun and we look forward to some more fun and beautiful images of the happy couple.
Megan contacted me a few days prior to our Monday session and told me how excited she was about doing their engagement session pictures. I love getting e-mails like that because I know we are going to have fun and end up with some cool pictures. We started at Grosse Pointe War Memorial with some nice garden shots. Regan wanted to be center of attention, and we let her be several times. Then we headed down to downtown Detroit for some shots at Campus Martius Park, where Keith proposed to Megan, and then some nice shots of the surrounding areas and skyline. So, we had a really beautiful evening and I look forward to their wedding on Sept. 2nd…I’m sure we’re going to have a great time.
