Becca is from Traverse City and Mike was stationed in Traverse City with the Coast Guard when they met. The rest is history. Although their wedding is going to be in the Detroit area, they wanted to make sure they had some photos of the area of the state that is so dear to them. Old Mission Peninsula’s lighthouse and wineries and orchards and downtown Traverse City played as backdrops for the photos. What a beautiful afternoon.
Trying to find a perfect day to photograph Brandon and Kial this winter hasn’t been the easiest. Snowstorms, cold and work schedules have all come into play. We finally picked a nice sunny day to meet up.
Our first stop was the Detroit Public Library. What a fantastic old structure that most people probably don’t even know about. After wandering the halls of the library, we headed out to Belle Isle for some outdoor fun.
Brandon and Kial are having their wedding reception at the Casino on the island, so we wanted to get some shots around the outside of the building. Although the sun was shining beautifully, the temps were down right frigid. I think we lasted about 1/2 hour outside before calling it a day.
I look forward to a beautiful fall setting on the island.
Ariel contacted me a few weeks ago about doing a Bonnie and Clyde themed engagement session. After a meeting and some collaboration, we came up with a fusion of Bonnie and Clyde and 20s themed. Their outfits combined with some backgrounds that I chose, which lent themselves to that style, gave us a great afternoon. We were even blessed with a “giant snowflake” shower at the end to give us a totally different look. Ed and Ariel have a June wedding planned. Enjoy!
Andrew and Melissa picked a great night for an engagement session in the Troy and Rochester Hills area. We started at Troy High, where although they didn’t date in high school, they both graduated from. We spent some time around the athletic facilities reliving some younger days.
It was then off to the Rochester Hills Municipal Center and some great color and water features. The wild flowers all are in full bloom and it made for some great backdrops. Melissa wanted to test Andrew’s physical abilities before he heads off to flight school on Tues. A May 2015 wedding is in the plans and we look forward to seeing this fun couple again then.
Ryan and Stephanie were another of my couples who were in town for Thanksgiving. We had a warmer day, for the beginning of winter, to wander around Rochester downtown. The sun was brilliant and created some great light. Ryan and Stephanie’s big day isn’t until October, but stay tuned for some more great images.
Justine and Scott aren’t getting married until the winter of 2014. Sunday’s weather couldn’t have been more opposite with high humidity and lots of heat. Wandering around the streets of Detroit, we captured the personality and love between the couple. Some great light bounced off the Renaissance Center and made some interesting shots. Look for Justine and Scott’s wedding day in February.
Jeff and Ashley picked a perfect day for their engagement session in the town where they met and now live, Royal Oak. Along with Foster, their German Shorthair, we had a great time exploring a park in Royal Oak and doing some shots under my favorite viaduct. Foster got some free running time in between his modeling debut also. We then headed downtown for a few shots. Watch the blog for the couple’s wedding day in September.
Sara and DJ are getting married in July and wanted to get some images done of their family before the wedding. This was somewhat more like a lifestyle session, which was a lot of fun. We started the day around their home with Henry providing our entertainment and starring in some photos. Then Griffin woke up and moved in the the co-starring role with Mom and Dad. A walk to some nearby green space and biking trail provided us with some other opportunities for some fun family portraits and some romantic images for Sara and DJ.
I’m looking forward to their upcoming wedding day on Belle Isle and the Madison rooftop.
