Brad and Kathy had the designation as being the first “wedding” for Michael Sackett Photography of the 2013 season. And what a glorious day it was. The weather was perfect Michigan springtime temperature, not a cloud in the sky, a beautiful bride and a handsome groom. What more could I ask for?
The wedding was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti. The church is such a great venue for photography. After a fun exit, we headed on to Ann Arbor for some photos around the UM campus. We spent some time at the Law Quad and then headed over to the Architectural Museum. Then it was off to the Novi Sheraton for the reception.
Best wishes to Kathy and Brad after they get back from the Cayman Islands.
I don’t think it matters how many times I shoot in Ann Arbor, I always find some cool ways to capture the current couple. Shawn and Sam are one of my 2012 wedding couples. I just find them so much fun and I now find that I really enjoy photographing with them. They are so “out of the box” and willing to have fun. We had a great time for a couple hours wandering around the University of Michigan campus. I look forward to next year and the “big day”. Enjoy
I can already tell Pat & Kristy are going to have a fun wedding in July, based on the fun we had on our tour of Ann Arbor on a sunny yet cold Michigan winter day. We hit a few indoor spots at the Michigan Union and in the Law Quad, got some classic type pictures at Angell Hall and the Diag, then went over to Nickles Arcade to wrap things up. Kristy reminded me we had talked of a snowball fight, but she didn’t want to do it until the end just so they weren’t all snowy. One snowball was thrown in the “fight” and that was by Kristy, with a direct hit in the eye of her finace’ Pat….that was it. Pat came out uninjured, but hoped the fastball Kristy threw at him wasn’t going to leave him with a black eye. I’m waiting to hear back on the revenge that was bound to happen.
All in all, we ended up with some great images that show all brides and grooms, you can get some great winter engagement session shots.
I met with Sara a few weeks ago and she described a wonderful wedding that is going to be at Addison Oaks in August. She then told me she was moving to St. Louis to be with Stanislav, who I hadn’t met yet, and they would return in August for the wedding. No big deal, it seems pretty normal with a lot of the couples I meet with. But, they were moving soon and Stanislav was going to be in town in an upcoming weekend so we would need to do the engagement session that weekend. For those of you that live in Michigan, we all know weather this time of the year is ever changing. Dec. 4 was one of those grey, cold Michigan days, but they were both game and ready to brave the cold Ann Arbor weather to get some fun pictures around a town they enjoy…and skating, something both of them participated in quite seriously in their younger years. Stans on hockey skates and Sara on figure skates. All in all we ended up with some fun shots that show off their personality. Can’t wait until August though!!!
So, Beth and Pat are architects, and a wealth of knowledge about architecture. Their wedding is going to be at the beautiful Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, this August. We spent our evening in Ann Arbor, exploring some of the U of M’s architectural wonders. Having a big interest in architecture, I found their explanations of the buildings and structures really interesting. PLUS, they pointed me toward the coolest graffiti alley I’ve ever seen. It’s truly a photographer’s dream in late afternoon and evening. The light and color is amazing. I think we ended up with some really nice shots that show their true personalities. Can’t wait until the wedding.
Dan & Anne were a super couple to work with. You couldn’t ask for two more laid back people who seemed truly in love. We had a lot of fun exploring the town of Ann Arbor and finding great places to take pictures. For those of you who know me, you know how much I love Ann Arbor. Ann & Dan had picked the Law Quad and Hill Auditorium areas for their pictures. Weber’s Inn also put on a beautiful reception for the newlyweds. Best wishes to a wonderful couple.
