I don’t think it matters how many times I shoot in Ann Arbor, I always find some cool ways to capture the current couple. Shawn and Sam are one of my 2012 wedding couples. I just find them so much fun and I now find that I really enjoy photographing with them. They are so “out of the box” and willing to have fun. We had a great time for a couple hours wandering around the University of Michigan campus. I look forward to next year and the “big day”. Enjoy
This was one of those weddings I have waited for. Something new and unique. Pat and Beth had planned this wedding for months and pulled off a thriller of their own. I have to say, this is the most unique wedding and reception I’ve ever shot. Although we’d planned to take a stroll around Ann Arbor to do some outdoor shots and the weather didn’t cooperate, we ended up spending a lot more time in the Michigan Theater itself and got some great shots.
Pat and Beth are both architects and Pat has worked on the renovation of Michigan Theater over the years with his architect firms, so this old theater, complete with the original pipe organ had true meaning to them. That coupled with their own love of old movies and the theatre, it made for a perfect day….complete with a recreation of the old 3D glasses picture. As in the song from “My Fair Lady”, they could’ve danced all night.
So, Beth and Pat are architects, and a wealth of knowledge about architecture. Their wedding is going to be at the beautiful Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, this August. We spent our evening in Ann Arbor, exploring some of the U of M’s architectural wonders. Having a big interest in architecture, I found their explanations of the buildings and structures really interesting. PLUS, they pointed me toward the coolest graffiti alley I’ve ever seen. It’s truly a photographer’s dream in late afternoon and evening. The light and color is amazing. I think we ended up with some really nice shots that show their true personalities. Can’t wait until the wedding.
