Summer and Sean think of Ferndale as “their” city. They enjoy spending time there, hanging out with friends there and eating there. So, why wouldn’t they want to have their engagement session there. We had fun finding fun places to make some memorable images of their love of Ferndale. Enjoy.
I have been looking forward this wedding about a year. Because of Mia’s attention to detials, I knew it would be a great celebration and we were not disappointed. Starting out with the bride and groom getting ready at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. Followed by a quick photo tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Fox Theater area. We then were off to the Rattlesnake Club on the Detroit River. What a beautiful venue for the handsome couple. The atrium was transformed by our friends at Petit Fleur Events and Luella’s Creations. An amazing evening was finished off by a sparkler sendoff of the couple. Best wishes to Mr & Mrs Love for a splendid life together.
Kristen and Bobby contacted me a few months ago about an e-session. Bobby was be sent from San Angelo, TX to New Jersey and a new Air Force base. They were stopping in Michigan for a quick visit with their families and wanted to do an engagement session in a city they still have a great connnection with, Detroit. Bobby and Kristen are big Red Wings fans and wanted a few pictures at the Joe, as well as some other Detroit highlights. Kristen and Bobby are getting married in September in Grand Haven. Best wishes and enjoy New Jersey.
Teegan and Dan made the trek to Detroit for the holiday this weekend. We ended up with a perfect spring day in the “D”. I had a great time getting to know Teegan and Dan while spending times in the streets of Detroit, Hart Plaza, the Griswold Building and Campus Martius Park. The couple has a really fun wedding planned in September that I look forward to sharing with them. Stay tuned.
I’ve been looking forward to Jessica and Anthony’s wedding since I met with Jessica last fall. She described what was going to be a truly special day all those months ago. The Masonic Temple is truly a hidden gem in Detroit that is a wonderful place to have a beautiful wedding. After a special first look for Anthony and Jessica, we headed to a few downtown Detroit landmarks that are favorites of many, the Fox Theatre and Comerica Park. Then it was back to the Masonic for the wedding and reception and a fun sendoff with bubbles. Congratulations Jessica and Anthony and best wishes for a truly happy life together.
I’ve been looking forward to Carolyn and Elra’s wedding since their engagement session this summer. Carolyn is a fun and witty gal, and Elra is the perfect mate for her. We started their day with a “first look” at the Guardian Building in Detroit. The Guardian Building gave us a perfect backdrop for the first look and Carolyn’s beautiful dress. We then made a quick stop at Harry the Hatter’s to do a fun shot with the guys and their hats from Harry’s. Then it was on to the Fox Theatre and Woodward Ave. for some city backdrops.
The ceremony was at the beautiful Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Detroit. You can’t ask for a much more beautiful church than Sweetest Heart of Mary. It complimented Elra and Carolyn’s attire perfectly. After the ceremony, it was off for a fun evening and meal at Sycamore Hills in Chesterfield Township. Elra and Carolyn were off to Maui the next morning and we look forward to sharing their pictures with them when they get back. Congratulations.
Carolyn and Elra told me they didn’t want to have posed, looking at the camera, engagement photos. The one thing I learned quickly about Carolyn and Elra is that they like to have fun. That means I can be a little more creative and look for some off the wall or kind of edgy backgrounds. I don’t know we got too edgy, but we had a lot of fun. A stop at the Red Grape Lounge on Woodward Ave. gave us a great background/venue for some fun “bar” shots. We found some fun alleys, great worn brick walls and a parking structure. Ask Elra (not Carolyn) about the baseball glove story. Can’t wait until their Thanksgiving weekend wedding.
Megan contacted me a few days prior to our Monday session and told me how excited she was about doing their engagement session pictures. I love getting e-mails like that because I know we are going to have fun and end up with some cool pictures. We started at Grosse Pointe War Memorial with some nice garden shots. Regan wanted to be center of attention, and we let her be several times. Then we headed down to downtown Detroit for some shots at Campus Martius Park, where Keith proposed to Megan, and then some nice shots of the surrounding areas and skyline. So, we had a really beautiful evening and I look forward to their wedding on Sept. 2nd…I’m sure we’re going to have a great time.
